There is so much here to do and see....It is said to be the Spiritual Capital of the World and the positive energy is palpable.....
The City of Cusco is beautiful - between a European city and an ancient Andean Inca city - heaps of things to buy and people trying to sell to make a living....massages, alpaca jumpers, beanies, gloves, dolls, jewellry, precious stones....The Stone walls tell their story of the Incan civilization - a culture only lasting about 300 yrs from early 1200's to late 1500's - interesting as I thought it much older than that...
My day starts with yoga - 8 - 9am followed by a short natural therapy lecture.....a very small class of 2....one way to realise your inadequacies and find out how difficult it is to hide your mistakes is to only be 1 of 2 in a class...........and the teacher puts my mat right in front of him and says "Julie, this is yours...." when I tried to put it behind the other person there.....
It's not the yoga I am used to - this is stretching and breathing and combines different types and awakens my inner being...it's called Jnanakanda.....the teacher, Jorge is nice or was nice until..................he spoke about doing acupuncture and as I have always been one who likes to do everything going, I asked if he could do acupuncture on me.....the cost for 3 sessions was 50soles (approx $20) - a good deal.....so had the 1st session with a friend - he injects a mixture of saline and silicone in very small doses which activate the cells - painful when he does it the length of the spine.....but I did return the next day for the next one....alone ......He had said he would do a massage and I was looking forward to this too......BUT during the massage he massaged my genital area with his elbow and then he held and massaged my breasts for a long time.......I didn't say anything during the massage but afterwards I told him it was a bit sexual and he acted surprised......he said he was massaging the charkras.......OK....BUT then he told me he loved me and as I left he tried to kiss me on the lips....not only is he my joga teacher..he is married......so now to find another class......another experience....Up until this I was loving my yoga....
The rest of my day is spent going to Spanish lessons at the San Blas School where the teachers are great and also lovely people and they do dancing lessons or cooking lessons or some other social activity very Thursday evening so we feel included....
Then in the afternoon I go to do voluntary work at a home for disadvantaged girls....this is fun, the girls are lovely, so accepting of everything and each other....about half go to school from 4pm - 8pm (an odd time for here, as well, which makes us think that it is because they can't go to normal school) the other 10-12 girls sit around watching TV or playing sports.....so I bought material and embroidery thread and needles and they are all now sewing almost every afternoon....they already knew some stitiches and some are very good so some other teacher has done emroidery with them. One girl knows more advanced stitches than I do.....which is great to see that level of knowledge and love of embroidery.
Other than that, I must spend time learning and meeting new people.....Today I had a realigning therapy - yumeiho, craniosacral, reiki, pranic healing, reconnection by Silviu Pașca from the Heart Nectar Centre. I feel like a new woman....
